Preventative Dentistry

Check-Ups & Cleaning

At your check-up, your teeth and mouth will be checked for early signs of decay, gum disease, cracked teeth and oral cancer. Diseases including cancer, anaemia and diabetes can be identified by the dentist in a regular examination (Oral Health Tracker, 2018).

X-rays may be taken to detect problems that can not be seen during a routine visual examination. We only use digital x-rays which significantly reduces the amount of radiation exposure compared with conventional x-rays.

When your teeth are professionally cleaned, plaque and calculus are removed. If left on the teeth, plaque and calculus can cause tooth decay and gum disease. A protective fluoride coating can also be applied to help your teeth fight decay.

Fissure Sealants

A fissure sealant is a protective coating placed in the deep grooves of the back teeth. It prevents food sticking in the grooves and significantly lowers the risk of tooth decay. Fissure seals can be applied from 4 years old. No injections or drilling is involved and you can return to eating and drinking immediately after treatment.

Teeth Grinding Solutions

A bite splint or night guard is a custom-made, removable dental appliance which prevents teeth grinding at night. Teeth with excessive wear, frequent headaches and jaw pain are common symptoms in people who grind their teeth in their sleep. Wearing a splint at night helps alleviate these symptoms and prevents further damage.

Custom Mouthguards

Mouthguards help protect against painful and (potentially) expensive dental injuries while playing sport. Our mouthguards are made to provide the best fit, size, coverage and thickness—especially for you. You can even personalise it with your team colours!

Anti-Snoring & Sleep Apnoea Devices

Dental appliances are becoming more common for treating mild to moderate sleep apnoea and snoring. They fit over the upper and lower teeth and make it possible for the lower jaw to be eased forward to open the airway during sleep.
